Looking on the compatibility chart, it shows that macs require the usb adapter. But, is it still needed for older macs that have a dedicated microphone port?

degrawtechSorry for the delay here Degrawtech - Yes, older macs too. For some reason only the late Steve Jobbs knows the answer to: All Mac PCs have unpowered mic ports. At least as far as I know. The ModMic requires a minimum of ~3v (Ideally 5-12v) of phantom power to operate.
