warshipgodWould not recommend. Looks to be about a 12/8ths height, with just the slightest of smiles, and a toe that looks hungry for earlobes 🤣

KavikThanks after I asked I noticed there is no "hook" for the pinky to help control the blade. so I'll just wait to see if anything else come this way.

warshipgodWait, was your question actually serious? If so, I can give you a better answer. I thought you were being sarcastic, so I decided to play along a bit lol

warshipgodIf you mean like as in a box cutter, sure. If you mean as in to shave the beard from your face, God no. You want a thinner blade for that sort of thing, with a sharper grind angle than's realistically possible with most pocket knives unless you have a professional bladesmith regrind the whole blade. These guys do have a blade that might work for that though. They call it the Orthodox. Still prolly a bit thick for any kind of comfortable shave but pretty sure it'd take you further than something like this if you really like the idea.

reswrightLol okay, I just had to make sure. Otherwise, yes, I would've had to point out all those things you just said, and then some 😁 I'd be shocked if even the Orthodox could pull it off. It's what I call a "razor shaped knife", but not a razor. Not looking for that myself, i have a decent collection of vintage and antique straight razors already 😉 I have a near full wedge from somewhere in the 1700s, if memory serves, that is one thick blade for a razor...but it's also about the geometry between the edge and the spine....can't freehand hone a razor without the spine on the stone as a guide 😉👍

KavikYeah, I'm a fan of having straight razors for things they're good for and knives for things they're good for. I don't collect straight razors, because I don't actually shave with them - smoothest shave ever, of course, underneath all the bandaids. I stick with safety razors. But I own a few old straight razors anyway because they're handy things for what they're handy for.

reswrightUgh. I've torn my face up WAY worse with modern "safety" razors, and old double edge razors, then i ever have with a straight. I'll take one clean nick over a triple blade corner of the lip gouge any day lol

KavikBy safety razor I refer to my Edwin Jagger with its double edge Feather blades. They are sill properly called safety razors, if only for the fact that when they were introduced, everyone was still using straight razors. Which quickly became called “cut throat razors” by comparison. Because, well, form follows function. I don’t buy cartridge razor blades because the prices are ridiculous, but I did for years. They work fine as far as I am concerned, they’re just a bad value these days. It all boils down to the individual preference, if you ask me.

reswrightI assumed that's what you meant, I just wanted branch out and compare to both...that's why I mentioned modern safety razors and DE's. I've owned 3 or 4 old Gillette DE's over the years, just could never get the hang of 'em. Still have one or two kicking around that I try every once in a while, then immediately regret lol I agree though, whatever works for each person's face 👍
