So, I'm supposed to get this as a deal, when the going price for a box elsewhere is $170? SO I'll save $2-$4 AND get to wait an extra month to have it delivered? Massdrop, you can do better

LogicalGamingFrom what I have seen, most of their Magic drops ship within 2-3 business days from the end of the drop. They put a date out much further than needed but my experience is that you get the product well before the promised date. And yes, you are only saving a few dollars, but it is not like Massdrop can go buy product, in quantity, that has been out of print for several years, at large discounts below the market price. The product just doesnt exist in enough quantity where anyone is going to sell it to them for way below the going price. Why not just look at it as Massdrop providing a safe and secure place to obtain hard to get, out of print boxes, at a "reasonable" price..

scedaveFine point about shipping, but about the item, perhaps because they aren't hard to obtain? There are 15 sealed ones for the same price on TCGplayer right now. I don't expect great things, but if massdrop wants to hold to its purpose of giving an item at discount when multiple people buy it, they need to do better than this

LogicalGamingThat is not exactly true. From what I see, there are 9 total boxes available at $169.99 using 5 different sellers. I would not exactly call that a massive amount of product at that price.. What you dont understand is for Massdrop to be able to offer the box to the community at $165 someone has to be willing to offer them a large quantity of boxes at $155 or less just for them to cover credit card processing fees and make just a buck or two a box. I am sure it is not easy to find suppliers willing to sell for that low of a price when those same suppliers can sell the boxes themselves for $169 and more on their own... They are simply providing a service by offering a quantity of boxes, all at the same time, from a safe an well known website.

scedaveEven the new product follows the same pattern. It's a weak argument to me but I'm sure you'll be just fine buying lots of product from them. As far as 'safe', many other sites offer better protection and customer support.
Nothing fancy about this site in the slightest.

LogicalGamingkinda hard to offer competitive pricing on mtg sealed product.... it's like offering competitive pricing on precious metals or stocks... there is a floor price that you can't go under even by a dollar or someone with a lot more capital will buy it all because of a marginal profit, AKA arbitrage... or you get to the point where opening, sorting, and selling the singles will yield a higher profit in spite of labor
