Power Magic Pro isn't required. It's a connection cable and box that is used to protect your car battery from being drained too much if you leave your car parked for a very long time. If you don't have power magic pro, you want to make a habit of unplugging the camera if you're parking and not using the car for a very long time (say 4-5 days).
