MacroPowerMeanwhile... http://hypebeast.com/2011/4/braun-watch-collection
Braun makes good stuff, I know because I have lots of their products. Dieter Rams is one of the best designers in the entire world, IMO.
I personally think this looks really sweet. It's not a smartwatch, but smartwatches are nothing more than gimmicks at this point of development. It's also a good deal - at the highest drop level, it's $20 cheaper than you'll find anywhere else, and you get Massdrop's great support with that.
Really, the only problem I have with this is that the watchband is only genuine leather - if I can buy a belt made of full grain leather (from Trakline) for $30, I'd expect full grain from a watchband at this price.
Speaking of, what's the warranty on this? Is the watch band replaceable?
MacroPowerHaha, I don't mind the way it looks but I am sure that there were similar looking watches made in the 80s. I think it would be nicer if the Braun logo wasn't so prominent. Plus no way I would ever pay more than $50 for something that looks like that.
autoteleologyThis is covered under a 2-year manufacturer warranty.
Regarding the watch band: The short answer is that the watch band is replaceable. However, it is quite difficult to access the spring bars due to the integrated band design. It would be very difficult to do this on your own and a watch repair shop might not be able to do it either.
