I'm noticing there's a little cap at the bottom of the filter -- wouldn't the grounds and even a bit of the coffee pool up there? Should a paper filter be used even though they clearly intended the mesh to be the filter?

I'm using a cheap ceramic burr grinder from Amazon. Using a fineness akin to table salt.
