Broken after less than a year
I got these delivered in August 2023. By April 2024, these speakers now get REALLY distorted for about 10 seconds every hour or two while in use. I've done lots of testing to isolate the issue, and it is 100% the speakers.

Decent speakers
I like the small footprint and how they look on my desk. The sound is pretty solid considering I have no subwoofer at the moment. Things I would change: It'd be nice to have a power button because as others have said, it gets quite hot. The lack of volume control is also rough considering some devices don't have convenient volume controls. The only unexpected issue I'm currently having is that every ~1 hour or so for about 10 seconds, the audio gets all fuzzy like the bitrate of the audio has dropped dramatically. It comes back right after, but seems to happen pretty regularly. I tried different devices and even bluetooth, and this audio issue still happens

Ok as a pair of PC Speakers, but it's more about the aesthetics...
Firstly, these are really basic PC speakers. Secondly, they get really hot. Now that's out of the way I think we can all agree that the main draw here is the looks. They look great on your desk and pretty much have a grille for every colour setup, which is especially useful if you are constantly changing the colour and theme of your PC desk or room, which I do, a lot. I bought a set of the grills in each colour and they look amazing on my PC desk which currently has a Sage/Green theme as below.

I bought a £100 Edifier subwoofer from eBay and it pairs perfectly with these little speakers, they provide a decent amount of top-end clarity when paired with the sub. I'd say the current $99 price is fair, simply for the aesthetic options it provides. On their own they are not great for music as they don't really provide any low-end, but for light use they are adequate. I definitely recommend unplugging these when you are finished using them or at night and when not in use, again they get really hot.

Pretty speakers that lasted 9 months
Pre-ordered these and waited months. Spent more for the grills and a Woofer, nine months later they are an electronic fuzz for sound. Waste of money and time.

Brilliant speakers for the price
This pair of speakers blow my mind. They are extremely good for the price. Maybe it helped that I saw many bad reviews so my expectation was low. I just had them for few days so yes, people might be correct about the durability issue of these speakers. I won't care though. I am happy with this purchase even if they die in the next 6 months. Probably the best thing about these speakers is they show me what seriously-designed speakers can do. I think I know a thing or two about audio since I have bought numerous headphones and speakers (albeit all of them are $400 or below), but I'm truly inspired by the DROP BMR1, and I'm ready to explore and buy more speakers in near future. P/S: If some of you think these speakers are not impressive then please recommend me other speakers. Really appreciate it.

Decent speakers, but with a bitter aftertaste
First and foremost, the speakers are decently good given that the units you receive are not faulty. Good, balanced sound with surprising amount of bass when used nearfield. The soundstage is also quite wide, but low in height. I've been using them both vertically and horizontally on my work desk via bluetooth and have yet to find myself disappointed with them. Mine don't get hot either. However, as one of the early buyers, the constant ongoing sale along with many reviews stating poor QC leave a bad aftertaste. I paid full price at launch (no grills, no longer cable) and I'm just fine with what I got, but I can't help think Drop could have handled this better. Overall the speakers are four stars by themselves but one star is knocked for how Drop is handling these speakers. At the current price of $99, I would recommend them, given that you can get support from Drop if your unit turns out to be faulty.

Left channel broke in less than 6 months light use
The left speaker slowly died on me. I repluged everything and changed settings in windows (if I set full signal to mono left I can hear something resembling my music). The right speaker is even on standby notably warm to the touch and the near-field monitors can’t be explicitly turned off. This go to the attic. I haven’t found a decent replacement to put sideways under my 49 inch monitor but I guess sennheiser hd660 will have to do for the time being

Pretty good
Couple of things that seem odd to me, they overheat quite quickly and there's no power button. Otherwise not bad.

Loud but not proud of my purchase
I purchased my speakers when they were full price, and though now they are over one third cheaper, I'm not going to complain. I do wish these had more features (*cough* volume control and an actual power button), but they perform fairly well for what they are. The volume dial on my amp (Schiit Fulla) apparently adjusts them exponentially, so these get very loud while under 50%, maybe too much so. I have yet to try these to replace built-in TV speakers, but they seem like they can provide an immersive experience with its loudness and full bass without needing a subwoofer. At the current reduced price, I think they are just fine. And yes, they do get hot when on the main connection mode, but if you switch to the headphones passthrough mode, you can stop the heat from accumulating. Admittedly, I never tried using the Bluetooth mode, so I have no insight on the wireless performance.
