Not happy about the $50 price increase. Massdrop tried doing the same thing with 6XX but ultimately brought it back down to its lower original price. I hope they reconsider.
TorStar81You have to keep in mind, the original price of the Hd 650 (with longer cable, different color, and storage box, but otherwise identical to the HD 6XX) was $500 US, and it held steady at $350 and above for over 10 YEARS until Massdrop, and all the other (upset) dealers still sell the HD 650 for over $100 more than here. I keep expecting that deal to disappear. The THX AAA 789 amp was a launch/early adopter special. It didn’t sell out on its first drop, but anyone who heard prototypes at events as far back as 2015 could tell you that they already were capable of making powerful, uncolored sounding amps. I think I even said as much on the first drop, because I heard one at CanJam RMAF 2015 (before Massdrop was involved, and THX was shopping around). I love a deal as much as the next person, but I already had amps around this level and higher. I hope everyone who wants one is able to get one, because it still sounds like a great amp even for $400.
