Now they recommend to buy a second arm and stack it on top of the first arm for expansion.

nick_vYeah, I'm not so sure you'll be able to get 2x 27" monitors side by side in the newer configuration. The older spaced the rotational points a bit which would increase the range in which they could be side by side and perfectly flush.
Based on the video review on the main page of the drop a 24" can do a perfect 90deg on these which means that 24" monitors will be perfectly flush while the lower arm is parallel to the desk and the upper arm is perpendicular to the desk. This has the monitors sit about 16 or so inches out from the mounting point.
With the old style dual mount they could sit back a bit more.
What this tells me is you really want to run each monitor on it's own mount for maximum flexibility.
