Alee.GLabor and quality go down, but they keep the price high, brilliant!
naterwThe Anorak is made in China. It would be great if the jacket could be made in the US, unfortunately the majority of expertise and understanding for producing quality technical apparel exists in China. There are some great products that come from factories who really care for their workforce and continue to push the envelope on innovation. The factory where the Anorak is made happens to be one of those better factories.

naterwCome on man. Don't be rude. Not all of china is knockoff shops. So he's speaking the truth. Unfortunately, his price is too high for us. Doesn't mean it's not deserved. We are all posting our opinions. He responded, just be easy.

BrainFlushI don't see anything to indicate it is deserved. Maybe $29 in materials and labor, so $400 markup? More power to the company, but let's be honest here- it's not made in China because that is where the quality manufacturing is. China is where the *cheap* manufacturing. Its probably a nice jacket, but I feel a $79 price tag would be more understandable. Maybe I'm missing something with the fabrics?

naterwI honestly get that. But again, not everything in china is cheaply made. That was my only point. He said what he said, we can disagree but we could be wrong. I still won't buy it and I waste money all the time. I, like you, cannot even try to fathom a justification for this. And I used to buy "one run" runway clothing. That's ridiculous shit, china made or not.

naterwI understand your concerns about pricing and the need to understand what's really behind the numbers. However, you are definitely missing something with the fabric, @naterw
Ventile and Polartec's Power Wool insulation are very costly highly technical materials that can only be sourced directly from the proprietary manufacturer. The same goes for ultrasuede. Technical garment construction (from taped seams to asymmetrical construction) is not something that is easily made anywhere in the world, let alone made cheaply for it to cost $79 dollars.
We have to be truly understanding of what goes into making a tactical/technical garment before lashing out on cost. Members in our community requested Ventile fabric jackets before, and we wanted to offer something that made sense in terms of styling, pricing and features. We think Fisher And Baker does a great job at incorporating all these technical fabrics in a way that still looks clean and stylish to wear to the office as much as the trail.

TomasVSee. I believe it. I knew it wasn't cheap in any nature. I just know it's too rich for me. Until I get into this lifestyle?

TSwansonI'm being pretty level headed, if you are that upset by a conversation about clothing you might want to stay off the Internet. I do know that ventile coats can be custom made by hand in London for about the same price.

naterw $464.39 US Now, I get it. This is made in Scotland. So maybe this is very hard to secure affordably versus going to China. Or the profit margin is much higher, either way, we have choices.
But thank you for the link. Start a poll and get this brand on MD next time.
