diversarioThey're for making quilts or other fabric things: curtains, pot holders, clothes (though a person would probably want larger pieces for clothes). Each fat quarter would be cut into specific pieces depending on what you're doing with it and then sewn back together to make a pretty quilt.
Quilters are crazy - we take large pieces of perfectly good fabric, cut it up, then sew it back together again :)
