TigerUKThat is the surname of the french guy who created and made watches in Chaux-de-fonds born approx. about 1500 years ago in France near the Swiss Alps. he was involved with that Pierre Jaques Droz guy, I think his legacy makes very ,very, expensive pieces. It is kinda like Suzuki for example the founder of the Suzuki car and motor cycle range was called Mr Suzuki!!! Or Mouton Cadet wine -it is the name of the place!! Not sure about Tag or Rolex, but Gevril do have a reputation of creating the best Rolex homage ever made to the Rolex Daytona; some Gevril homages which ceased production in the mid 2010's are now fetching 3 and four times their original price ,as obviously the Rolex's are still at stupid prices. The Wall Street namesake was intended to give the "aire" of quality that came from wearing a quality watch like a Rolex. At the time of the original design it was the time of the overpaid and subsequently found to be "untrustworthy" wall Street broker boom-times!!! Most watches are homages of some sort but Gevril is very genuine and is fully produced in Switzerland to this day, a very ,very underestimated and under priced quality watch. Try the original range as the GV2 range which is still original is their fashion arm, so I would suggest that all the best elements may not be present as they are also cheaper. Another great french watch of which I own their absolute bargain basement option, which I did beore spending any seriuos money is "Yema", this sort of microbrand is even better made than Steinhart,as is Gevril. I think there are too many snobs with too much "doe ray me" , out their in the watch world when the average guy is probably a buyer at up to 500 gbp,or $500 usd.!!! Currently I have a few high end Swiss watches but I am finding it a lot of fun buying micro-brands from makers who are essentially only into watches and enthusiastic, one is "Geckota" from Britain; I always buy on sale as they are starting to raise their prices, but their watches are very good. Also, and I find this one really a lot of fun is "Ingersoll", always a good sale price and a lot of choice; I am not really into the "skeleton" look but their are many other options. Of course the biggest benefit if you buy at these prices and get bored or unhappy with the watches you are not losing a lot of dollars or pounds. Another brilliant Swiss quality watch I have started buying recently is "Mido" fantastic movements. Happy watch buying.
