I'm going to go out on a limb here and state straight up that I think Glycine is one of the most overrated watch brands we see here on MD. That said, I'm well aware they have a fallowing and I'm certainly not saying they're a bad watch, per se. My issue is with the games everyone seems to be playing with their offered price vs the claimed MSRP. We know they're bull shit up front, but I say it also says something about the value the manufacturer puts on the watch, and perhaps worse--what the manufacturer thinks of YOU, their customer. Consider for a moment the many things you do buy over the corse of a month or year--would you trust anyone who claimed the price of "X-whatever" was really two or three thousand times more expensive, but they were giving you a deal on it? Say...groceries, a tank of gas, or dinner and drinks? No, you would not! You would think they were trying to con you. I say that's what Glycine is doing, and maybe even (or especially) what Rolex is doing, and maybe every other watch manufacturer is doing too. My question is how deep do you want to get into it, for this brand? How much kool-aid are you willing to swill to jump on this or that bandwagon? But even if you don't agree with me, do some price checking before you buy any watch, but especially any Glycine. And remember: there is NO shortage of Glycines, and this isn't the only place sells them.

RayFGood points and it's sad to see Glycine effectively follow the trend of perpetual "discounts" and nonsensical MSRPs that many stores now seem to have sunk to.

RayFI think you’re 100% right I think if you’re patient and do your homework your better off hunting down a Hamilton 40 or 42 mm applied indisies H31 or H21 at asford clearance or jhomashop or whatever imo Hamilton is a far better quality piece I own glycine and like them but their bezels on divers aren’t the greatest their dials are painted there just okay movements are good but i think your money is better spent with Hamilton

RayFGood advice re price-checking. MSRPs are 'aspirational' markets. The number is only there to sell you some kind of parity with what products the manufacturer wants you to view their products as approximating. It's exaggerated in cheaper brands or ones that have been marginalized (or self-marginalized, like Glycine—because it has become 'the' marketing tool in and of itself). Rolex was mentioned but seems like you will only see prices 17-23% less than MSRP max (which is also another sort of marketing message entirely). One of the best value-for-product watch purchases I ever made was Glycine's Incursore with a black face. Simple. 3-hand. Big number Cali dial. Maybe $299. My rule of thumb for a good chrono is very different—'buy once' then just switch up the straps from time to time. Within a forest of crappy or thick chronos (inless 'thicc' is your game), I just manned up a decade ago and bought a nice, used 39-40mm Blancpain Air Command: reliable, accurate, glitch-free, thin, column wheel auto F185/1185 movement. I'll likely never need another chrono and neither will my kids' kids. Three hand and divers are where the real value seems to be and where utilitarian movements still shine (and where there are still manufacturers that care and are capable of innovation, if necessary).

CheatSheetYou’re probably right overall, but reports of quality and after purchase satisfaction have been mixed on this site. Me—I’m keeping an open mind.

RayF'Old' Glycine didn't play those crazy MSRP games, but it seems the Invicta genes are slowly coming out after their takeover. I bought a 'MD Exclusive' Airman shortly after their acquisition of Glycine that was altogether pretty solid, save for a few quirks here and there (reviewed on this site if you're curious). However, it WASN'T a legitimate exclusive item and ended up on Ebay from multiple sellers a month or two later. A couple months after that, I ordered the maroon and gold Combat Sub from their direct Ebay storefront for a song... but the bezel insert was set VERY clearly off in the bezel. Things like that drive me nuts, so I sent it back very quickly for a refund. To their credit, they settled the refund relatively painlessly. That said, after lusting for that specific model for quite some time, the watch itself was rather underwhelming... not BAD in any sense (other than the stupid bezel), but just somewhat underwhelming. At any rate, my limited experience coupled with the recent inflation of their 'MSRPs' and introduction of tons of new model variations has soured the brand for me.
