Am I the only one that's amazed by the price you can put on a tiny piece of wood?

th3pr0ph3tNo you are not, but that's the cost of having someone else make it for you. You comment is like going into a fine dining restaurant and gasp at the fact that they are charging 500% premium on the ingredients, but that's the price for having someone else cook it and serve it in the right manner in the right place. Also, it will almost definitely cost you more to make it yourself if you don't already work with wood.

th3pr0ph3tStill cheaper than previous drops I've seen here, hah. Wood is so much better than those mushy things IMO. Worth the premium, just something you'd have to try yourself. Not telling you to buy one if you have the means to make one on the cheap, though.

jwzhanWine markups on the other hand... Is it the premium of getting to enjoy it with your food?
Jokes aside, I agree that it is more expensive to make it myself. Time is money too.

th3pr0ph3tLOL, it would cost me a whole lot more for me to go through the time and trouble to run around and source my own wood, purchase or rent tools to be able to work it into the right shape, mill out the base for a piece of cork, source the cork, figure out what adhesive to use and source that, source the clear coat and take the time to paint it, sand it and give it another coat, cut and glue on the cork. Plus the time and materials for screw ups, since I don't really have any experience making something like this. Why, after all that is done, it would probably cost me almost $200 or more in time and materials for me to make one.
Hmmm.... How to do it for cheaper? Maybe if there were someone who actually knew how to do all this, had the tools to do it, and could make a bunch of them all at once to make the effort efficient and cost effective, maybe I could have someone like that make it and I could buy it from him. Wow, much cheaper than doing it myself!
Still seem too expensive? There's an answer for that, too. Competition!

th3pr0ph3tPeople buy fucking water in bottles. Water. Imagine you're in the 1950's and you're telling people that they can make a fortune selling fucking water. Now that is something to be amazed by.
