MUSASHI66I seem to recall reading that acrylic is used because of the bubble shape of the crystal being very difficult to do in sapphire or mineral.

KaatoYup--comes up every time there's a drop. Acrylic is easy to replace and is relatively cheap as well IIRC.

BruceReBecause it looks nice! It’s a choice not a compromise.
You pay more for Panerai’s with a plastic crystal. The acrylic speedmasters are the preferred versions. And my oh my, a Type XX variant (homage or OG) with a sapphire crystal is just straight up wrong imho :)
If its a design choice it’s there for a reason 😉
