I actually wouldn't recommend these type of poles. The one that requires you to tighten the locks using a screwdriver are far more reliable if you are hiking and don't want to constantly adjust your poles. Don't get me wrong, Kelty is a very reliable brand.

asianfromamericaDisagree. I've had these poles for 2 seasons now and have shared them with my 275 lb cousin on numerous occassions. i thought for sure he was going to snap or strip one of them but nope...
Mine have not slipped or budged one bit once twisted down properly. And like thePlumbah said, the ability to change the length on the fly on a roller coaster trail is awesome.
That said, these are neither the lightest nor the heaviest poles, but a great starter set for someone wanting to check poles out. The cork handles are particularly comfy, especially in the summer.
