Totally disagree with Cyan I have a few waves and they are almost TOO RELIABLE!! I have to try to keep them from opening when I take them out of my pocket at the end of the day. Unless you cake it in mud or you wear spandex Wranglers or something I don't see how it wouldn't open every time. Have dozens of knives and this is one of my favorite EDCs. Even if for some reason it didn't work, the thumb stud is perfect. It's the same size thumb stud that's used on many unassiste zero tolerance knives. If you want an assisted flipper buy a Leek.

Okieneckdon't think I've ever seen a wave + assisted open in the same knife. Agree w/Oki' that the wave is totally sufficient.
To Cyan' a wave + assist would most likely fling the blade open earlier than you'd like and would increase the chances of cutting yourself during deployment.

dealaholicidk, perhaps I have bad technique, I've been carrying folding knives since I was 5 and assisted knives for the last 10 years, and my emerson is the only knife I've managed to not only cut myself (twice) but I also put a pretty nasty gash in a pair of 5.11s.
I think an assist would eliminate the need to put all the force for opening on your pocket. I like the wave, but it needs more, I say combine it with assist open and an opposing flipper an you'd have a pretty awesome knife. When you need a quick draw cqc knife, you need it to work every time and with little thought from you. A knife that relies on having the right pocket design and/or draw technique is not it.

OkieneckI have a CQC-6K and I love it. If you want to draw it, pinch the tip of the handle with your thumb and index finger and pull back in a straight line so the wave catches the top of your pocket. If the blade does not fully deploy, you can do a whipping motion to get the blade to lock in place (and man is that click satisfying).
If you want to remove it without deploying the blade, pull it forward to help keep the wave from catching on your pocket (sometimes it still will and partially deploy so be careful, this is the only issue I have with the design).

CyanoticalCyno- I think all knifes require a bit of tecnique to deploy perfectly everytime. What model Emerson do you have out of curiosity? You might try to pull the knife a little more back behind you rather than straight up, When I first got mine I had a couple of incomplete deployments and pulling back slightly helped the wave catch my pocket much better as a result I honestly don't think I've had a malfunction since, maybe one or two out of a hundred, if that. As for having a wave on an assisted flipper, I recently bought the Kershaw Scambler from right here on Massdrop. I machined a wave feature into it because I think it's by far the easiest most effective way of deployment, unfortunately at first I was a little bit disappointed. The wave I cut worked exactly as it should. The problem was the assistance was unnecessary. Much to my surprise the blade would open so fast and hard that it would actually bounce back off the open stop before the lock could catch. By changing my technique slightly and pulling with less force I was able to get a consistent proper deployment and ended up being happy with the results, but I'll keep my CQC my go to EDC. Especially after my newest 45 Colt casing thumb stud mod, which is more for aesthetics but also does make opening by thumb stud easier. Here's a couple pics of both my Scrambler Wave mod and CQC 45 Colt stud if you interested.
