GfromSLCNo. It is a fixed beam. For me, it is a good compromise of throw versus width. Be aware that unless you have huge pockets, it's not really a pocket sized light. I edited this as I didn't want the size comment to sound like a dig. I have the light and am completely satisfied. Just wanted point out the size as often time even with dimensions it hard to get the perspective.
