SpiralGuyAt least this way you can guarantee that it's authentic. There are a lot of counterfeit Lamy's on Amazon and eBay...

SpiralGuyLamy Vista M nib from Amazon ($24.11) + z24 converter ($5.99) + shipping for being not Prime customer and <$35 total checkout cost ($6.03) = $36.13. Same contents on Massdrop = $26.81. This doesn't include the choice of Lamy ink which here is $7, and sells for $10 everywhere else.
Honestly unless you need this combo immediately, it's fairly easy to justify waiting. Not to mention you are confident that you are getting genuine Lamy products, and accommodating customer service to boot. And as always, your contribution here leads to availability for can't-miss deals such as $85 off the Lamy Studio 14k.

cskroezeThanks for posting this! That's actually disturbing. I had no idea that knock offs are floating around (and I'm probably not alone in this). Any tips/links on how to check for them? That would help the community greatly :D

ViraelSure, considering that I just received a counterfeit Safari from eBay, I did all of the research on how to identify them. That's actually why I joined this Drop, to make sure my next purchase is authentic! At first you can't really tell, but then all the little red flags start to make sense:
1. It will write terribly. This was my first tell. The EF nibs are most often counterfeited, and the fake ones will write more like a M or even a B. Not to mention it is very scratchy and practically pours ink onto the page. 2. The nib is the wrong color/size. The black nibs are too shiny and the laser engraving is too light. Also the breather hole is too close to the tines. It cannot be swapped with an authentic nib, they're slightly different sizes! 3. The injection moulding is inferior. The cross on the finial is shallow and not very sharp compared to the real deal. The word "Lamy" is shallow and the triangle shape in the letter "A" is too small. Also, the imprinted word Germany on the barrel is shallow too.
Those are the biggest ones that I can think of. There are some other aspects of the packaging that give it away too. A quick google search will provide a wealth of information, pictures, and videos on how to identify the counterfeits.
