Will this work on twist-off caps (which seem to be 80 to 90 percent of the market and would seem to render this drop moot)?

RayFI don't see why it wouldn't unless you are collecting caps. As prying off a twist cap will bend them. The tool, however, serves multiple purposes so I can't see it being "moot". Lots of bottle openers still on the market and lots of non twist caps ready to be pried off!
