censtadIt's really a Panasonic with the Leica name slapped on. If that's worth $400 bucks to you, go for it. I suggest that you buy the Panasonic from a reputable camera shop, online or in person, and have a US warranty you can depend on (I'm not sure what the limited 3-year Leica warranty is: an international warranty or a US warranty, and I'm just being sceptical because every camera I've looked at on MD has been grey market (I have not looked at all of them) . Panasonic makes some great cameras, some are good enough to be rebranded and upsold as Leicas..., all it costs Leica is a little pride and the return is valuable units sold, or rather, relatively very inexpensive units (for them) sold in moderately large numbers to people who want the Leica paint-job cachet and don't mind driving an over-priced (but darned good) Panasonic under the hood. You can but a much better camera for $1,000, however. (Edited to reflect the correct warranty information, as much as I can interpret it, which is with a grain of salt).
