Proto715You can run the OS just fine on that, but you will definitely need more than 1GB vram for this 3440x1440 rez for gaming. You're gonna want 3-4GB and atleast a GTX670

Supermoist1 GB VRAM works just fine.. hell, Macbook Air's with Intel 5000's run this fine.. Just not speed demons.. Obviously, the faster and more video ram the better for gaming.. but normal usage is fine..
The real question would be does his card support Display Port 1.2 or latest HDMI standard.. that will impact if it can handle the 3440x1440 res much more .. This display does NOT have DVI and not all 650 ti's have HDMI or Display ports.

TimGWell, if supermoist is wrong, so are you. He said 1gb VRAM is fine, just not for gaming. You said the same thing. Reading comprehension FTW lol

AnzialMy point was that the ports were the real question on his video card.. not questioning what memory he was using really.. So you're right.. reading comprehension FTW!

SupermoistYeah I would recommend a GTX770 or higher if you want to run games are native rez and be on high or medium settings @ 60FPS. For such high rez, 1GB of video ram is not enough. Minimum of 2GB. Yes, most video cards will work but as long as you are not playing games.

TimGJust to clarify further, what I meant was that 1GB is fine for OS/desktop usage, regular apps, but for gaming 'AT THIS REZ' (3440 x 1440), you need healthy VRAM. Even using 1.5GB for 2560x1440 can start to run into texture size limitations. The higher the rez, the more vram you need. You don't need 6GB or crazy 12GB, It's been known for awhile that triple screen always demanded a higher vram size due to 5960x1080 rez. And this is for gaming well at 60fps. 2560x1440 or higher, you really wanna have atleast 2-3GB
