Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. Honestly, I don't think the majority of people who own the HD6XX have actually heard what they are truly capable of. Even with everything I've thrown at them, I'm sure there's gear out there that can make them sound even better.
2x Russian 6H6P-I Power Tubes Little Dot Amp Mk II 6N6 from the yenaudiostore: A good power tube (the big tubes) and better than the factory set. I suggest yen audio because its an easy place to start, but you can find the same thing from tons of different sellers. I like yen because they are reliable. If anyone else has tube seller recommendations I would like to hear them.
2x Voshkod 6ZH1P-EV Matched Pair Little Dot Amp from the yenaudiostore: My favorite signal tube (small tubes) for the Little Dot MK II.
Matched Pair NOS/NIB Mullard 5654/6AK5 BLACK HOLE plate tubes - Little Dot: Also a great signal tube.
This would be a good place to start, and with these signal tubes you don't need to change the jumpers since they are both in the EF95 Family. Here is a link to a fantastic tube rolling guide for the Little Dots. It's been a great reference and I've tried quite a few of the tubes (I've stayed in the EF95 Family) https://www.head-fi.org/threads/little-dot-tube-amps-vacuum-tube-rolling-guide.563884/
Here are what the pins look like.
And here is what the socket looks like. You can see the area with the wider spacing. This is how you align the pins with the socket.
