SpecialEdThe way I read the dimension from other sites and viseo reviews is that the 2.3" dimension is the diameter of the larger portion near the flare or front of the lamp and the 1.4" dimension is the diameter of the smaller round section near the rear of the lamp where it's gripped, if I understamd your question correctly.
