Hi everyone,
We are just as disappointed with how this drop turned out as the community is. Since the end of the drop, we submitted our order and transferred funds, and received information that led us to believe the orders were being processed. However, we are just as frustrated that these have not shipped out at this point, particularly since we made sure that everything in our control was completed promptly and accurately.
We will be working with the vendor to make sure that they take any and all steps necessary such that this never happens again, while also looking into ways to make this up to the community.
The vast majority of our MtG drops run smoothly without a hitch and we appreciate your patience and understanding in rare situations like this where there are hiccups. We will continue to provide updates here while working to ensure these get shipped out on the shortest possible timeline.

cameronbachmanWhat exactly went wrong with this drop? I guess I'm a little confused since the description of all your Magic drops say that you pull all loose packs directly from sealed boxes. If an outside vendor is doing the shipping and they got the product from an outside distributor, how do you ensure that this promise is upheld? Especially since you can't ensure they even ship them out on time. There's so much vague language in these updates that I've lost a lot of confidence on buying cards here in the future. Especially loose packs.

cameronbachmanMust be because this was my first time using massdrop. Beginner's (bad) luck ;)
DatumHi Datum, these are all great questions.
First of all, Wizards of the Coast does not work directly with internet retailers that do not maintain a physical store location. So, Massdrop carefully works with local game stores to offer Magic: the Gathering sealed product in our drops. We are extremely selective and build close relationships with these vendors and only move forward with loose pack drops after we are 100% sure that their goals are aligned with our community-first approach.
I'll post a more thorough update to everyone in the drop, but the long and short of it is that this vendor is one that we have worked with for a long time and this drop was mishandled majorly through a staffing change in their business. We are, and will continue to be, working with the vendor to ensure that everyone on their staff understands what the community's expectations are when participating in a group buy on Massdrop.
