Very solid, beautifully refined piece. I've never actually seen s black mortar and pestle before and it matches with the rest of my kitchenware very nicely. Only thing is that it's absolutely huge! Perhaps I should have gone with one of the smaller sizes but it is truly a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. I absolutely love the textured grind surfaces to avoid causing slippery materials needing crushing from flying all over the kitchen. Quite happy with this purchase.
