Adding/Including Memories
I lost my dad last year (2023) and have been finding ways to include keepsakes/memories in my workstation. I've dabbled here and there with doing small woodworking projects and attempted a wrist rest from a piece of oak I picked up with him from my great uncles wood shop. I milled it to fit a 60% keyboard as I hadn't decided what keyboard I would be using it on and thought that's where most of my wrist would be in contact even typing on a full keyboard. I gave it a torched/burn appearance as I really was lost in what to do. I found an old shell casing from going hunting with my dad in my hunting pack and decided to imbed it into the end of the wrist rest so it would just have a little difference and a small story behind it as well. I have other things around my workstation from family and friends, but it just feels a little more special having worked on it and adding something small that has a memory for me to it. (Purple was my grandmothers favorite color and I have kinda now...

-they put the pulse reader on the palm part of the mouse. If you have larger hands or claw grip your mouse normally without resting your palm on the sensor you will get no/wild readings.
-the GSR sensors (2 metal contacts on the right side palm) are very susceptible to electrostatic discharge meaning if you have carpet and often wear socks on you will get static shock discharge when you first touch it almost always.
-the light on the pulse reader shines bright green toward you anytime you move the mouse. If you are an aggressive typer the light will flash on and off as the mouse moves slightly and you will constantly be blinded by the light. The mouse does not diffuse this light it at all. (most likely the sensor needs optical clarity to read the pulse)
-you can only see the pulse readings with the software window open while the proper tab is selected. The in game reading can only be seen if you install overwolf and the mionix app within the overwolf client. The overlay will not show without overwolf running. in my experience overwolf fails to hook on a few games like payday 2 and FTL
-the software is still in its early stages so its potential is kind of limited at the moment.
-the mouse is fairly light weight (coming from a person that uses a logitech weight tuning mouse) I am the type that prefers a mouse that is a little bit heavier.
-the software has a "feature" where it keeps track of the total use counting the amount of times you click it, scroll it, distance the mouse has covered, how much time your hand has spent on it as well as your heart information. It is kind creepy that it logs all of that information but it could be useful to some.
after a week of use I went back to my logitech mouse I really could not get used to not having the features that my logitech mouse had like the mouse flywheel lock and the additional buttons in more useful places. the mouse is neato but unless you really want to stream your panic levels to the internet its not very practical for average everyday use. It is more a streaming mouse then a gaming/everyday mouse.
