I find the idea of setting a phone or a wallet with credit cards on a polarized magnet strong enough to create that effect highly worrying.

HoneybadgersIf your card is chipped the magnets may end up being slightly less of a concern; smart phones have plenty of magnetic shielding. Just wanted to provide some (hopefully useful) context - not an attempt to invalidate the worry.

ckoneplusDepends on the strength of a magnet - the weak one holding a folio case together is fine, but I don't know how strong the magnet in this box is and where it's located.

HoneybadgersI agree. In my case, the concern is with the magnets potentially magnetizing a mechanical watch movement. Does anyone know if this will happen with this tray? Strong magnets near mechanical watches is a recipe for disaster. I will absolutely NOT buy a magnetic EDC tray without an unequivocal assurance from the manufacturer that it will not aversely affect my watches. It’s the manufacturers move if they want this sale. Please let us know. Otherwise, can’t take that chance.

K.T.NMagnets affecting a mechanical watch movement is WAY, WAY bigger an issue. It takes a fairly strong magnet to damage electronics/chips. It does NOT take a strong magnet to damage a watch movement. I wouldn't risk it even if the manufacturer guaranteed me it was okay. Getting a mechanical watch movement demagnetized is about $250 minimum around here.
