UzuzuDespite your wording, I have to agree with you. I think they ignored esthetics, and focused entirely on function. After all, these will be on the street after you get off the bike.
UzuzuYea, They kind of do need the strap. The shifters on some bikes can mar up a piece of thin leather very quickly. The straps are much thicker and hold up to the wear and tear much better. They are basically standard on most moto shoes and boots.
