Personally i think the combo of 4k and GTX1060 is not good, the laptop from MSI that is appealing is the GT73VR TITAN-427, it comes with a GTX1070 and 120hz 1920x1080 that to me its a very good combo for gaming, aside from this the SSD is not prechosen to you, so you can go with a cheap one or an expensive, overall the best SKU from MSI.

AbulaWhile this machine does have a 4K (2160) display - which I believe was part of your point - it's not a 1060, it's a 1070.

DrBobUTerwilligerI'm sure a typo, but 1070s seriously struggle with 4k 30 at high. Anyone gaming will be dissapointed and anyone being productive will be laughed at. This laptop misses both markets and is entirely impractical, especially with newer Max-Q notebooks available for similar prices with better storage.

DrBobUTerwilligerThanks for the reply, initially i did see 1060, so probably was a typo, this makes it a little more viable, that said, i still think 4k gaming is not that great, specially on a 17'' where the size itself will make the difference with 4k not as tangible as on a 32'' screen, again not trying to say its a bad option, probably its a great option for editing and doing stuff where 4k might bring something extra to the table. But for pure gaming, 1070 is a better match for 1080p gaming aiming at 120fps, which is what the other SKU brings.

vanmmyersYeah, one of my companies is involved in AR/VR work, my notebook for work specifically in that capacity is a DT-X7, it's a ridiculous beast, GTX-1080 (8GB), overclocked i7, 17" 2550 G-Sync display, gets less than an hour on battery, heavy - all my other dev work, personal use/productivity, is on a 15" MBP. No question, the Max-Q form factor/design is way better. We almost bought Razor Blades, very nice aesthetics (still shy of a MBP), but the 1060 was just not enough for our needs (and expectations) after using 1080/Ti on desktops.
