Economics always wins. Throw 5 billion people into the market who will work for pennies and things change, dramatically. Protectionism has failed over and over. Perhaps protectionism can be done well for a period of time, but over the long haul economic conditions will win out. I was able to buy a reasonably good pair of jean from Costco for $15 for a while. No longer. Guess they were losing money on the deal. Full retail for Levis is $80-$100. That makes a specialty pair of jeans at $160 seem like a deal. But if Costco can almost make a profit at $15/pair I think the markup is significant for most makers. My complaint is with the marketing BS surrounding these jeans and the fashion Nazi discrimination against larger people. If you look at all those "tough as nails" hard working men these days, a good percentage of them can't buy these jeans if they wanted to because of the small waist sizes available, Comes down to they really don't want fat guys wearing their fashion jean anyway. I know thin people dismiss fat people as unworthy, it is in the nature of the fashion industry. Made in America discrimination, thanks.

tomcunDo you mean you'd pay more for American-made jeans if they had your size? Companies might listen to that. But if you begin by saying that you wouldn't buy their product anyway for price reasons, they have no incentive to listen on the size issue. They'll follow the money.

tomcunThis is a warning to keep it on topic and avoid baseless claims against a company or it's people. I will moderate or delete any more antagonistic posts that add no substance to the discussion.
