MDs price is the clear winner ONLY if you just can't live without the Orange bezeled, Planet Ocean inspired version, which comes to $130.05 from MD vs $158.50 from Amazon (to my location).
For the other colors, looks like Amazon is the way to go.
andrewebay1Omega is the way to go, if you have the dough ;- )
They also make the Speedmaster which is on most folks’ top five list—again, if money is of no concern.
RayFRay, I know nothing about divers so need a bit of advice. My son (30) is looking for a dive watch although he doesn't even snorkel. He like the look and the idea that it will handle harsh environments (he does trek into remote areas like Iceland in winter). He wants an auto movement, sapphire crystal, and decent lum. I'd guess a 200m rating would be more than adequate. He's pretty sold on Seiko (papa is not financing an Omega) due to their reputation and fit & finish. He's been looking at both new & lightly used. Budget in the $500 to $700 range. Because of their propensity for constant introduction of model variations, it seems like many of the mid-level models get sharply discounted after a year or so. Again, I don't know their dive products at all, except that some are actual dive while others are ersatz dive. Do you have a recommendation for either a specific watch (including an alternative brand) or a model line?
mclose1️⃣ Seiko Sumo Prospex which is 2️⃣0️⃣1️⃣9️⃣ edition. That's a little pricier than your budget but totally worth it. I prefer this 🆕 version because it has sapphire crystal and a better movement with 7️⃣0️⃣ hours power reserve. Anyway if you get the previous version it's 🆗
2️⃣ Orient Triton. This is within your budget if I'm not mistaken.
Both are true divers (the dial says Diver so these are certified) good for 2️⃣0️⃣0️⃣Ⓜ️💧 resistance.

You need to travel pretty far up the Seiko ladder to get into a dive watch with an actual Sapphire crystal.
To my mind, especially if one is trying to keep to a budget, Sapphire crystals are OVER RATED. Seiko uses their own material, HARDLEX (which in my experience, HARDLY ever scratches), and so is NOT a drawback in my opinion. Others reading this statement are having heart attacks right about now, but I tell you as a guy who owns a dozen Seiko divers--none of them have scratch one. If that works for you, I'd recommend a Seiko Turtle for your son, ie: a SRP777 (a watch I personally own and like a lot):
https://www.amazon.com/Seiko-Automatic-Diver-Watch-Silicone/dp/B01ARYT23OIf, on the other hand you really want that Sapphire crystal AND a Seiko automatic movement, I ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY recommend any of the Heimdallr Seiko homage watches (most are LESS than $200) and are a crazy good value--I have four of them!
Have a look here:

RayFThanks so much, really appreciate the advice. This is the one he is jonesing for, which I honestly don't know if it's a reasonable price or not. Have him looking at the Heimdallr now.
RayFHe took (almost) your advice, and looked at the Amazon link you posted and bought this one, which showed up on the same page. He wanted the blue dial. Plus he got Amazon's free 2-day delivery, which is actually two weeks now. (link fixed)
