cbaldwinCould you confirm with a screenshot or something else that we could reference? Every one of these drops someone whines about the warranty And I’d love to point them to a concrete example!

Thw1990Verifying whether a product has a warranty is hardly "whining". When buying products below MSRP it's always good sense to know what you're getting in to.
first, welcome to massdrop!
second, the whining I was referring to is the same two people making the same comments on every single post about Pelikans.

Thw1990Is it made clear as to whether each Drop is covered by warranty? If it's not clear, it's good to ask each and every time.
It’s perfectly clear, it’s the following unless noted otherwise in the listing:

Thw1990It says the warranty is supposed to be displayed on the listing. The word "warranty" does not appear on this listing for the Pelikan M800.
I purchased a product from Massdrop that did not have a warranty explicitly declared on the product listing. I had to email them directly to clarify; turns out it did have a warranty. I would have never known that for sure unless I'd emailed them.
It's far from perfectly clear.
its going to depend on when you ordered. Read the whole thing...

Thw1990This Drop is current, obviously, and the product I referred to in my previous post was purchased recently. The date in the the help document does not apply to any of this ("Effective January 2017...".
Bottom line: It's not clear whether these products are covered under a manufacturer warranty. It's supposed to say on the listing page --but as I demonstrated that is not always the case. Thus it's good to ask to verify before spending hundreds of dollars on a writing instrument that you may need warranty service on.
I recently requested information on the Pelikan Renaissance M800 offering. I asked if the pen was covered under Pelikan USA warranty. In answer to my question I was told that this information was not available and that I would be referred to the MD community. I received a reply from member cbaldwin 7 stating that the pens are under Pelikan USA warranty and had his pen serviced with no problem. I contacted Pelikan USA and found out that indeed his pen was serviced under warranty about three years ago, however MD no longer is being warranted with Pelikan USA as of a couple of years. This is unacceptable information given from the MD community as a across the board existing currently policy source, I believe MD should look into their policy of using the community to respond to warranty issues what were true in the past but are no longer currently accurate . Respectfully, Mike .

manray08Interesting. I think Mass Drop should increase transparency and simply state very clearly on the product listing whether it's covered by warranty. Until then I'm very, very hesitant to use Mass Drop.
This somewhat confirms my suspicions that perhaps some of these goods are from the secondary or "gray market". For example you can find online sellers of Mont Blanc fountain pens, and they are indeed legitimate products from legitimate vendors --but because they are secondary market, the pens are not covered by Mont Blanc.
I agree with you completely especially in the case of Mont Blanc that will not warranty pens from their own authorized dealers that advertise discounted price on their products whether of not if it's shown directly on the site or being put into the cart to show discount price. In Pelikan's case they would warranty any of their pens purchased directly from them (Chartpak, Inc.) or an authorized USA dealer. I believe MD no longer purchases their Pelikan pens from Chartpak Inc. However MD could be purchasing their pens from an authorized Europian dealer and have international warranties ( I do not know this as a fact) in which case you would have to pay for the shipping cost that can be quite high depending on locate. If the pens are coming from a third party seller you are out of luck.
