I was using one of these lightning cables with an official 10W Apple charger last night to charge an iPad and the cable itself got too hot to touch. I've just looked through the comments and I seem to be the only one with this problem; moreover, it's the first time I've noticed the problem after a week of use. Still, it might be worth keeping an eye on cable temperature if you are using a higher wattage USB output.

SordelJust went to plug my phone in, the cord was extremely hot. It hadn't been used since this morning. Not sure what would cause it to be getting hot like that when not in use... A short?
