I got the lamp and it works nicely. It was provided with only one mantle. After first use, would it survive a backpacking trip or crumble? Can I expect to easily find replacement ones on a trip in New-Zealand?

guy.regevI had the same concerns about the mantle. That prompted me to set right out researching replacements. It turns out that the Coleman #51 made for their compact lanterns also fits this Primus. I bought some on Amazon.com at a pretty reasonable price. However, after several trips I have not yet had to replace my original Primus mantle that came with the Steel Micron. The steel cage and the storage bag and some thought put into where to pack it have protected it just fine. That said, and given their low weight/bulk, I wouldn't want to go out without a couple spares.

guy.regevLike seenypaul - I’ve been very surprised at how well the mantles hold up, I have two very similar lanterns from brunton and Coleman which go through a few trips without needing to be replaced. With that being said, they weigh nothing so a couple spare is just good insurance.
