I've been wanting to try a fountain pen for some time, and not just a few scribbles here or there, but use one for a significant period of time. But, I wasn't feeling committed to a Mont-Blanc. This is a perfect price point to enter at and see if a better built pen is worthwhile.
That said, does anyone know how the cartridges hold up? What's their approximate lifespan, both on the shelf and when used moderately every day? Thanks!

HplogSince your beginning to just get into fountain pens id recommend a Lamy Safari or Al-Star. They're solidly built pens from Germany and are great for beginners. Ive been writing for years and I love all my Safaris. I used them in college and now use them at the construction site while jotting down notes. Its also the first fountain pen I got.
Heres a pretty good review of Regal Fountain Pens: http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/150041-regal-pens/
