Just got mine in the mail today. The brass is beautiful and has a nice heft to it. It'll look even better once it builds up a nice patina. The LED has a nice, warm color temperature. I didn't go into this expecting it to win any awards for brightness but it's certainly bright enough for daily use, even running on a NiMH AA. It's easy to operate and a great size for carrying in the pocket. I'm not a flashlight enthusiast/expert, but I appreciate quality and attention to detail and this has both. Definitely a steal for the price!
Rayoui@Rayoui,
Cool! Is the Norland 61 a kind of adhesive?
@Omegaman68,
I‘ve got a brass 2x AAA lumintop with a Nichia B led. Mostly got the 2 battery version because I kept losing the single AAA battery lights, but I rarely needed the max brightness settings on those. What I like about the Nichia LEDs is they don’t have as much of a “white hot spot” and serve more to suddenly be able to see what you are looking at, and using it as a little extra illumination for photographs looks really nice.
I think everyone would benefit from a flashlight. It’s amazing how capable modern coin-pocket sized lights are compared to the incandescent Mini Maglight that served me pretty well in my youth, but now in the Maglight Solitaire size or smaller!
EvshrugYes, I have the brass Lumintop with theNichia as well. I use it almost everyday at work. It's a great light! I think this will serve me just as well and just be a little readier to hold due to its size. I had the Mini maglights as well and these new LEDs just blow the old lights away. I was never a flashlight collector, but a lot of these new models are pushing me in that direction. I didnt realize how often I would use a flashlight until I started carting one again. (The Lumintop).
