Something in the manual caught me by surprise: Don't try to set the date between the hours of 9 pm and 1 am. This is my second automatic piece but the first I've heard of this. Watch-collecting sure is an interesting hobby!

wovieIt's usually advised to not set the date between 8pm and 4am, especially for Seiko watches. In Seiko you can usually see the date wheel gradually changing from one day to the next over the course of a long time, in this case I'd guess from 9pm to 1am, hence the warning.
:)
Edit. I'll also add that it's advisable to set the time to 6pm before changing the date. This is because on some movements there might be an interference with the way the gears are positioned, and the 6pm position seems the safest. I don't remember where I read this (some forum), and I can't attest to this being true, but there were replies in that thread seconding this. Also, I'm not even sure if I stated the reason correctly. Anybody who knows the exact reason (or if you can dispute this claim) chime in!
