According to Seiko's own recommendation a 100m depth rating is enough for swimming and shallow diving, so it isn't a true diver but it can get wet. I wouldn't worry about swimming with it. For scuba diving Seiko recommends their 200m divers. http://www.seikowatches.com/support/faq/water.html
