JTP87714JTP88714, thanks very much for your question. This is John from Chicago Comb responding. There are many differences between the Chicago Comb and the combs by made Kent. One main difference is that Kent combs are made of plastic (cellulose acetate - a type of plastic derived from plants), and Chicago Combs are made of high quality stainless steel. In terms of durability and longevity, there is of course a difference between plastic and stainless steel.
There is also a very different process for manufacturing the combs; Chicago Combs are laser-cut, whereas Kent advertises its combs as being saw-cut. I don't know the details of how Kent finishes its combs and to what extent they are hand-finished, if at all. Chicago Combs are all carefully hand-finished in our East Garfield Park, Chicago facility.
There is also a difference in where the products are made. Chicago Combs are made in the USA and the stainless steel is sourced from the USA (Kentucky). I believe Kent still makes many of its products in England, though my understanding is the cellulose acetate (plastic) they use is sourced from India. Someone with better knowledge of Kent products could speak in more detail to all of these points.
