I would imagine most of the people who don't understand why this costs so much just need a better explanation. If you have a knife that cost $75-$5000, you actually understand but just aren't connecting the dots yet. Will a $10 knife cut something? Yes. Will a $75 knife cut something? Yes. Will a $500 knife cut something? Yes. Will a $5000 knife cut something? Yes. So why do we pay all that extra money for the expensive knife? Because it uses better handle materials. Because the blade steel used is superior and it won't require sharpening after each use. Because the fit and finish is spectacular. Because we appreciate the thought and design that went into the knife. Because we think the person who put all that time into their research deserves ours money.
It's literally the exact same with a top. Yes, you can go buy a top for $0.25 out of a vending machine. It will be plastic and hopefully spin for 10 seconds. There was no thought put into it and it will probably break or the tip will become blunt and it won't work after 10 uses. These are made with superior materials. They will spin far longer than the cheap toy tops. They look and feel amazing! Steven has been making tops for a long time and his designs are gorgeous and they work! He tests his tops before he sends them out to make sure that they are as good as he says they are.
No, this top will not save you or your families life in the event of the apocalypse. It will just make your boring day a little bit more fun. It will just give you one more thing to talk about or show someone in that awkward silence.

adam4163There are millions of ways to entertain yourself! Some of them are free and some of them cost money. Some of them are educational and some make you dumber. This is one that costs money and it teaches you a little about physics if you care enough to pay attention. It's not for everyone but, it's definitely a form of entertainment and you can even do it while you watch TV, or read, or whatever else you want to do!
