These are 15-16,000 Yen in Japan. Aka not anywhere close to $449 or $336.
Not really interested in the fit nonetheless but am a denimhead.

givemefiveCan you show me the listing you saw this? I will speak to Sugar Cane. They were really stretching by allowing this price.

DanielleThey are trying to keep their price at a premium here in the US I'd guess.. but most raw denim customers aren't exactly dumb.
The Japanese prefer the one-wash and I don't speak Japanese or know the exact model number for the raw but here's an idea: http://item.rakuten.co.jp/jeansfirst/sc40065a-421/
There's tons of them posted. All legit Japanese clothing stores.
For an idea of the pricing at other retailers: Their most popular model, the 1947 is $250. http://www.selfedge.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65&products_id=279 Kiya doesn't carry the Union Star because it doesn't sell that well due to the fuller cut.
Maybe they feel like skipping the industrial washer and sending the jeans to the US is worth a $200 premium.

givemefiveThank you for all the feedback!
I know this particular pair is the original Sugar Cane and each one is hand cut and sewn. It is also one of the 100% raw pairs.
The import taxes and shipping on the jeans from Japan bring them to a much higher price point then what is being sold prior to shipping.

DanielleHere are these exact jeans available for $150.00: http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/hinoya/item/sc40065/
There's simply no way the import tax and shipping would be equal to nearly 100% the price of the jean. I've bought similar items before and paid roughly $30.00 in shipping. That still puts the price point way, way, way below the Massdrop pricepoint.

AveryI was going to say this same thing. No way this pair of raws is worth anywhere near $300.
