I received this make about a month ago - love it BUT have a concern with the temp of freshly brewed pot. The coffee is only "warm" when it finishes brewing. I have to place my cup in the microwave for 30 secs to get it hotter. I know the freshly brewed pot is "below the brewing spec temps" (195 - 205 degrees) because the hot plate warmer "keeps the coffee at 185 degrees." When I go for my second cup, it is much hotter than the 1st cup that is freshly brewed. This makes me think my "brew temp" is way below 185 degrees, maybe only 160 degrees? This is why I always have to "shock the cup for 30 sec" in my microwave - to heat the coffee to the temp that my 2nd cup usually is after sitting on the hot plate for 20 mins or so. Is there a way to "turn up the heat" when it brews or should I seek a replacement from Drop or manufacturer?
vtutmanSounds like the heating element is not working properly. All Technivorm machines sold on Drop.com come with the 5yr manufacturer's warranty. If you have not done so already please reach out to Technivorm for support. My favorite thing about these machines (besides making great coffee) is that they are meant to be easily serviced.

vtutmanI have the older model of this (also in black). Mine has a high low or the warming plate and the caraf is not stepped. Also mine does not have the blooming option on the basket. Nonetheless, I too find that if I take a cup right as it finishes brewing that that cup is too cold. If I wait a bit with the warmer on high, it will reach the perfect cup temp. Perhaps I can recommend rinsing both your mug and the carafe with hot/boiling water first so that the hot coffee isnt hitting a colder surface in its pathway to your mouth.

ChevyChaseThis is a problem caused by the type of water you are using. More than likely you have damaged the heating element already.

Nightf0xxIm using filtered water and I de calcify every other month. In the intervening months I run the blue cleaning agent. I may be exaggerating the temperature issue. Its not cold, but its not McDonald’s scalding hot either.
