No, that is not RAID 1. RAID 1 adds redundancy to your data. All data is written to both disks, so if one of your drives fails you have a backup to restore data from. This halves the amount of storage you can have.
You will need a RAID capable docking solution. This one from Mediasonic is a two bay dock which supports RAID 0 and 1. Also, $49.

I don't want to do software RAID.
