On their main website they warn "WARNING: This product can expose you to chemicals including Lead, which is known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. For more information, go to: www.P65Warnings.ca.gov " now, I wonder what kind of warning is that when it exists on their own website but not here - does that mean we aren't to worry? I'm interested in ordering but I'm also curious about how to handle such a product if lead exposure is an issue; gloves?

VeckincileI'm going to go ahead and assume this is a serious question. If you look somewhere on the back, bottom, or packaging of many, many random objects, you'll see the prop65 warning. Your pillow may have one. Most modern flashlights have lead in the soldered circuitry, which is what I'd guess the warning is referring to.

LeoangerYes it is, thank you. I still am curious though, you say it's due to the circuitry so am I right to assume I'd only be exposed to lead if I opened the product up? These are the things I'm curious about lead warnings is all, how to handle the item in terms of avoiding any said risk no matter how small.

VeckincileThis is a good question, only the manufacturer would know what exact materials used would fall under the California Prop. 65 category. It could be lead based solder that is the carcinogen, but it could be other things, including: - The body, they say it's an 'aluminum alloy'. If they mixed aluminum with something like nickel or chromium (both known carcinogens), then it would fall under that category. - The coating on the body. - Certain plastics and rubbers. (Possibly used for the tail switch/o-rings) Yeah, it could be anything on that light, and there's no surefire way of knowing what exactly it is that results in this product getting the Prop. 65 warning. As far as why it doesn't state it on this website even though Weltool clearly states it on theirs. I don't know, it is California law that this disclaimer must be on a product being sold to someone in California.

Salvador_FThanks, always good to be on the lookout for such things; so I will probably order one and just use gloves around 'em.

VeckincileI would hold off on ordering one. If you are getting the T11, there are far better options for half the price. Look up the Lumintop GT Mini on other sites. As for the T10, I don't know. I don't have a need for that type of light, so it's a type of light that I wouldn't really research much into personally.

VeckincileIf you are really willing to avoid environmental toxins no matter how small the risk to your health, I'm afraid you'll have to go live naked in the mountains or something (: If you consider how many crazy laws have been passed over the decades in California (not just CA, but I think that's the state that comes to mind for many when they hear "insane laws"), it might put things into perspective. Sure, lead can be deadly with enough exposure (think factory workers), but I don't know of any fishermen who became ill from years of handling lead sinkers with their bare hands.

LeoangerAs much as I'd take you up on the offer I'd have to reserve my plans for now ;p I don't know the extent of foreign laws and that's why I asked, as here we only have such warnings for serious things in Australia.

Salvador_FI found the Lumintop GT Mini but not sure if I found the right one as it's beyond the price you compare to this product. Perhaps it's just those retailers, do you know anyone that sells it at a good price? Never mind, found a good site. Thanks for the recommendation!

VeckincileStrange, I'm finding them on Amazon for around $45 USD. You can try nealsgadgets.com, it's a online store based in China. They have a good rep among flashlight enthusiasts. Be aware that shipping does take some time, but their prices are pretty good. https://www.nealsgadgets.com/collections/blf/products/lumintop-gt-mini?variant=12828301230150

VeckincileIn the U.S., I think there are more than a few politicians who would, if they could, have everyone bubble-wrapped for their own safety, then put a sticker on the wrapping warning the wrapped of the risk of suffocation.
