Laszlo662Wow what a collection, many great pieces, some obscure ones n some I haven't heard before. Noticed that there's no Rolex or Omega...

GES11TRolex is the most overproduced, oversold watch, ever. Maybe there is a good reason for it. But that also makes it the most counterfeited brand ever. I often wonder why 75% of all pre-owned watches for sale are Rolexes. If it is such a great watch, why are all those people so eager to get rid of them? Besides, the Rolex look is not my favorite. I have seen very few models that in a weak moment I would go for, but it's a rare occurrence. Strangely, I prefer Tudor. Omega is more interesting to me, especially with their technical innovations like the coaxial escapement, but it is also a highly counterfeited model.

Laszlo662I know what u mean, I have a love n hate relationship with Rolex. There are so many in the secondary market for the pure reason of making money, you can resell most sports steel models for 30% n up to 100% above retail eg. Ceramic Daytona Panda. But to put it simply, Rolex is a genius in marketing n brand awareness/image. There are so many brands out there that makes better watches but unfortunately don't know how to market themselves eg. VC n FP Journe. For me I love watches/brands with heritage, how they put their mark in history. I shoukd really update my collection pic, cause I've grown n changed iver the years. Here's the 2 of my favourites now.

GES11TLove your Omega! I think FP Journe makes the most aesthetically pleasing watches. Second to none. It is on top of my wish list together with VC, followed closely by Panerai, A. Lange & Söhne, Blancpain, Parmigiani Fleurier, and a few others. Sadly, I don't think I'll ever reach a Patek Philippe in my life. I honestly think it is a better policy not to over-market a prestigious brand like Rolex. It only leads to increased counterfeiting and the saturation of the used market. In fact, it can have the opposite effect: it can water down the brand's long-term reputation - which is what Rolex did for me. In my experience, to most owners a Rolex is more a status symbol than the valued treasure of a true watch enthusiast. Present company excepted of course ;-)
