Generally Thanksgiving cooking is a family affair. My husband brines the turkey, my daughter stuffs it with apples (which give the inside moisture, but not for eating), and I do the finishing touches such as layering under the skin with herb butter. My husband then makes his famous stuffing (which is not put into the turkey), my daughter makes her magnificent sweet potatoes and pear casserole, and I finish with mashed potatoes, fresh asparagus and a host of condiments. For dessert the family always requests my pumpkin pie with bourbon cream.
