My continuing adventures with thermionic devices. All 48lbs worth of TV-2C/U arrived today. It is an amazing tube tester from the dark ages of technology.

Wow. Talk about rolling to sonic bliss! Let me know when I can come over and play. ;-)

jaxtraumaThe TV-2C/U was a crazy low price, something like 50% of the usual going price for units in the condition it is in, and I totally couldn't pass it up. It didn't come with the original manual(s), sadly, but it did come with a working tube setting roll. So at least I don't have to dig up the printout binder with settings. The previous owner clearly loved it very much, going by the condition interior. Very clean with minimal wear and tear. It is freaking huge. Like 48lbs in a small suitcase form. It exudes the same smell that a military surplus store does (or a storeroom on an old base). The best part is that it has a freaking built in Septar socket. I can finally test the 829B and GU-29 tubes I've been collecting for the past few months. That and it'll make it so I can test two of the more common tubes at the same time. That warmup time kinda makes it hard to quickly test tubes, and that puts a major damper on trying to test and sort hundreds of tubes.

Fayne Just amazing gear ;-) You're probably going to get hit up by all the tube amp owners out there! I'll get there one day...
