CTRL keyboard stops working randomly

more_vert
I just got the CTRL keyboard arrived yesterday and it worked fine for hours. Then when I unplugged the keyboard to move it to different spot and plugged it in, it stopped working. When the keyboard stops working, I mean all of it doesn't work: LED, typing, etc. All the suggestions from this forum did not work.
  • I plugged the keyboard into USB3 slot and doesn't work.
  • I reset the keyboard on the back with a pin while plugged, held it for 10 seconds did not work.
  • I reset the keyboard while unplugged and did not work
The only thing that worked for me was unplug the keyboard and left it like that overnight and came back to plug it and it started working again. So I left the computer on with the keyboard plugged in and LED turned off with (Fn + D). I came back to the computer about 2 hours later and keyboard stopped working. So now I unplugged the keyboard and leaving it for hours. I'm pretty sure... I shouldn't have to unplug my keyboard for hours to make it work... Never had to do that with cheap Logitech keyboards. Does anybody have any idea how to fix this or should I consider this a defect and return it back? I waited... 3 months to get it and so sad I have to send it back in 2 days...

Yeah... I eventually had to just return it for a replacement. You just need to contact them here and ask for return label. https://drop.com/support

Was your keyboard hot? It could be due to overheating just like mine...

No it wasn't hot at all. I would turn on the computer, unplug the keyboard and plug it back in right away and it wouldn't work. All within couple mins. Keyboard wasn't used at all.

It looks like you are right about the overheating. At the time when I was testing the keyboard there was heatwave in my area and my room was really hot. Now my room is a bit cooler and it's working longer than usual. How did you solve this issue? Do you have a proper solution? It's disappointing that all my laptops and desktops function fine despite the heat as they are properly engineered and this keyboard isn't.

I plugged in the keyboard and it seemed to work fine over the weekend. For 2 days it worked fine but then this morning, my computer was left on as usual and all of sudden I heard Windows sound that it makes when some USB device gets disconnected and keyboard just went completely unresponsive again even though it was plugged in and not being touched at all. I consider this a defect for sure now and packed it away back into its original box. I really need to ship this defect back for a replacement. Could someone from MassDrop give me returns shipping label so I can send it back?

Ok, I just plugged the keyboard in after 2 hours of unplugging. It works now... This is really weird... It's like I gotta wait for some kind of electrical residue to be flushed out before I can plug it in and make it work again. Could anyone tell me what to do with this problem?

Mine worked now magically and I am very scared to unplug it ever again. As soon as I plug it out of curiosity it just LED just freezes and the keys become totally unresponsive. It's been working for hours now but I would really like to RMA (replace with new one).

Pretty disappointing if you ask me. I have contacted Drop Support to get an RMA.
