Awesome thank you. I sorta had a feeling it was like that but that's what I wanted to know. I'm working on researching and trying to figure out my first ever desktop build wanted to do it for years but seems doable finally. So much I'm trying to learn and figure out. You wouldn't happen to know if there would be any issue in running 1 1070 and 1 1080 in sli with one of the new hb bridges would ya ?

ZachHiltyCan't do that (yet). Go with either two 1070s or two 1080s for SLI. Two 1080s if you want dat high FPS even at 4k.

Waahoh wow, a guy I was talking to said it was fine? when can you do a 1070 and a 1080 ? cause thats right around the top of my graphics card budget, i may have to downscale to 2x1070s will that be able to handle 4k at 60 fps ? high settings ?

ZachHiltyYeah, picking the parts is the hardest part of building a new PC. Months of deliberation can be spent on choosing the parts, and then once they come they'll be assembled in only a matter of hours.
You can only run SLI with two identical GPUs. They do not have to be the same card manufacturers, but they have to have the same same GPU (1070 x2/1080 x2), the same VRAM amount, and same bus width. Helpful links I found for you...

ZachHiltyThey've only stated that DX12 will eventually allow for multi-GPU configurations between Nvidia and AMD cards. Until it's actually a thing, it shouldn't factor into your purchasing decision.
As for whether 1070 SLI will push 60FPS on 4k, it really depends on the game. All these multi-GPU technologies depend on game developers' efforts to be fully utilized. Some games barely perform better, if not worse with SLI because the game doesn't properly support it.
I'd personally be happy with one 1080 and see how SLI support develops before considering purchase of a second card.

ZachHiltyI'm suprised that no one here has told you that YOU DON'T NEED TWO 1080s to run 4k, you'll be more than fine with one 1080 and you can get another a year or so down the line. Or if you're patient, you can wait for the 1080 ti that's coming in a couple of months.

ZachHiltyIf you want to do 4K, do not get two 1080s right now. Either wait for the 1080 Ti or get a Titan X Pascal. Both of those options are less expensive than two 1080s and allow you the ability to add a second one of those superior cards in the future.

ZachHiltyWhen will the 10080ti be available ? I had considered that. An will there be a Seahawk model I can still further over clock ? This may be a dumb question. But I saw a few people talk about a 1090 am I missing something. Cause to my understanding theres no such card ? Also let me grab a link to the power supply I was thinking of and see if anyone can let me know what all to go with for liquid cooling. Just assume price isn't a factor for the most part
